My parents flew in from California to spend time with us in Washington. During the week, we kept our exploring in and around the Kirkland and Woodinville area, since it was near my work and our hotel. Having the weekend off allowed us to venture into Seattle to show them around.
To start our day, we went to Pike’s Place Market because Jay & I loved it & we knew my parents would too. Both of them love arts & craft projects, homegrown vegetables and baked goods, which there is no shortage of at Pike’s Place.
We almost made it out of the market without spending too much, but we stumbled upon a dried fruit stand – Simply the Best – and we had to stock up for the road trip and their plane ride home. It quickly spiraled out of control from there. We found a shop selling Hawaiian drinks, which none of us have had in forever, so of course we had to buy some. Then Jay was lured into Beecher’s by the glorious scent of cheese.
By then my dad had enough of walking (he was still recovering from spinal surgery he had last year), so we plopped ourselves on a park bench across from Pike’s Place while Jay retrieved the car. We had a pretty good view of the water from where we were seated; and it was then that we decided it would be a good idea to explore the neighboring islands.
