The last four months living in North Carolina flew by so quickly, but you know the age-old adage about “time flying”. If I had known just how much we would love North Carolina or how much I truly enjoyed working at the Veteran’s Clinic in Wilmington, I would have chosen a six-month contract instead of three-months. Hindsight is 20/20 (lame optometry pun totally intended). So, onward to Chicago!
By the early morning hours of Saturday, I was on the road to D.C. with J & Reesie following not far behind. About two hours into my drive, somewhere in North Carolina, the sun began to rise – it was such a beautiful sight.
We spent Saturday & Sunday spending time with Gabriela & Noir (her furbabe). As always, good times were had indulging in a sushi boat, helping Gaby set-up for the ice cream social she organized (she’s on the board of her condo association), and a bit of retail therapy compliments of Kate Spade. There’s a slight possibility the weekend may or may not have included hours of hunting Pokémon in Old Town Alexandria…until after 11PM.
Despite our exhaustion, we kept to the schedule & hit the road out of Washington D.C. before 2 o’clock on Monday morning.
The first leg of our journey was driven in the dark with not much to see, but the drive through Pittsburgh was so eerie, yet beautiful, as the sun rose & the early morning fog clung to every thing. The drive became easier & a lot less interesting – sorry Ohio & Indiana – once the winding mountain roads of Pennsylvania were in our rearview mirror.
