On the Mend

How sad and adorable is this face?!

My little Reesie buttercup is home from the vet and on the mend. Yesterday, she had a teeth cleaning and other dental work to remove several impacted baby teeth. Since she had to be put under anesthesia for the procedure, the hubby and I agreed that it would be best to have her dewclaws removed at the same time.

Since Reesie was a wee lass, she had malformed and brittle nails that frequently broke, bled and caused her a lot of pain. For years we tried everything we could – changing her diet, vitamins, anti-fungal orals and topical creams – in order to avoid surgery. Unfortunately, nothing worked and it was awful hearing her yelp in pain. This summer alone we’ve probably been to the vet three times for the same issue. So, as much as it pains us to see her suffer after the surgery we’re hoping that it will be better in the long run. For now, we’re doing all that we can to make her comfortable.
