Nantasket Beach

With my mom in town and Jay home from Germany, we made plans to visit Nantucket, as we’ve never been in the four years of living in Massachusetts. It rained for most of the week leading up to the trip. Remember that scene in “Forrest Gump” where Forrest describes how much it rained in Vietnam? That pretty much sums up the weather pattern in these parts. We begrudgingly canceled our plans opting instead to stay at home and reschedule for another time.

Alas, the torrential downpour April showers did not last. By Saturday morning, the soggy skies were replaced with streaks of white clouds and a bright, blue sky. Given that it was still April, there was a chill to the air, but it wasn’t cold enough to keep us inside. We decided to give my mom a view of the Atlantic, so off to Nantasket beach we went.

From September 30-April 30, Nantasket Beach is dog-friendly, so we brought Reesie along for her first beach outing. Once we had a little stretch of beach to ourselves we let her off of the leash – and she was gone! For a tiny pup with short legs she sure is quick! Thanks to her puppy energy we spent our time chasing her up and down the beach until she found two boys kicking around a soccer ball, and without asking, inserted herself into the game. Luckily, they were good sports about it & didn’t seem to mind playing monkey-in-the-middle with Reesie. It was pretty hilarious.

Even if we didn’t get to go to Nantucket, we still had sunny (albeit chilly), sandy fun!
