Gaby and I flew into Dublin with plans to make the three hour drive to Northern Ireland & it was a great decision. The drive to Ballymoney was a breeze and we were able to take our time & just enjoy the scenery. As we neared the B&B our GPS started acting a little wonky & we found ourselves making several wrong turns including one that landed us in a dead end that turned out to be someone’s driveway – the clothesline was a huge giveaway. (Insert tons of giggles here.) Surprisingly, and no thanks to GPS, we found the Honeysuckle Cottage.
Val, the owner, greeted us at the car before we even stepped out because someone – no name mentioned *coughGabycough* – parked in the wrong area. She was also shocked to see the two of us in the car because the reservations (made by – I’ll give you a hint: not me ha!) indicated only one guest. Val was such a sweetheart about the whole situation & assured us that it would be no problem, but there would be a nominal change in price. Every thing worked out just fine.
Val & JD (the big, friendly furbabe) – made us feel instantly welcomed. Despite our refusals, Val helped us lug our heavy bags upstairs to our room. The first thing I noticed was how immaculate and spacious the room was. There was a huge walk-in closet for us to store our luggage; more than enough floor space to break it down while getting ready; large, comfortable beds that you sink into; and a table of snacks and a teapot.
Our stay at Honeysuckle Cottage was by far the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at on my travels. I can’t tell you what my favorite part of the stay was. Perhaps it was being greeted by Val & JD after long days of sightseeing, Val’s spot-on recommendations, the breakfast spread fit for a King, fresh milk for our tea brought directly to our room or the convenient location to many attractions. Truthfully, it’s all of the above.
