Hiking Stone Mountain

We have been living in Georgia for almost two months now, but sadly, up until this past weekend Jay & I haven’t done as much exploring as we hoped to do. This rotation has been keeping me busy & on my toes. I’ve been working six days per week; and on my day off the last thing I want to do is go out. Last week, however, I had some time off, so Stacy flew down from D.C. to spend time with Jay, Reesie and I.

It was good because the extra time off and having an out-of-town visitor forced us to go out & explore the area. On Saturday, the three of us made the drive to Stone Mountain for a leisurely hike. We heard that taking the Summit Skyride to the top of Stone Mountain & hiking back down was the best way to do it – so that’s exactly what we did.

The view from the top was awesome! We were able to see the Atlanta skyline and another neighboring city in the distance.

The “hike” down the mountain was more like a jog down the mountain because the downward momentum kinda propel led, pushed or pulled us down. Easy, breezy.

At the bottom of the mountain we came across train tracks & a stationary rail car, which reminded the three of us of Terminus in “Walking Dead.”

Anyone else think so? It was very fitting because we had plans to do a self-guided Walking Dead tour before dropping Stacy off at ATL the next day. I know, we are those people. Stay tuned for our Walking Dead adventures!
