I am obsessed with Pinterest. Admittedly, I spend way too much time on Pinterest. It’s borderline unhealthy. My boards are mostly filled with pins that inspire me to channel my inner-Martha; and quite frankly, are things I probably will never have the time to make, but still, I get my pin on!
Then two months ago to the day, June 28th, Angela (#optobff) got engaged (insert happy squeal here)!!! I knew I wanted to give her a special gift, so I turned to Pinterest for some help & I stumbled on this from Something Turquoise.
The directions seemed simple enough. So, I patiently waited for my Sharpie oil-based paint markers to arrive & I got to craftin’. Let me just say, as easy as those directions were, there is an art to writing/ drawing on rounded objects. Martha Stewart, I am not. I abandoned the DIY stencil I had made because I had a difficult time drawing within my pre-transferred letters; and in the end I free-handed it. Surprisingly, the free-hand letters look so much better. Also, towards the end I picked up a trick to clean up the stray spots, but by then it was too late & the marker had dried. There were a few times that Angela’s mug almost ended up in pieces against the wall, but a calmer head prevailed & she eventually received her gift.
