Today, Jay & I showed-off the city that we’ve fallen in love with, because some of our family is visiting from California. The O’s were experiencing a bit of jet-lag, so we had a late start to our day, but we made it to the city around noon. First up on the itinerary – the Charlestown Naval Yard – to see the U.S.S. Constitution.
Entrance to the museum and U.S.S. Constitution is free. Of course, a donation is encouraged and appreciated, as the funds go towards maintenance and providing free tours. Once on board we joined a tour group and allowed ourselves to be led below deck.
Learning about the Constitution’s history was fascinating, but true to his three-year old form, Chevy was only interested in seeing the cannons. Can’t fault him there – it was pretty cool.
If it wasn’t for Matt’s deep-rooted desire to see this naval ship, we likely would never had made the effort, but I’m glad we did. Good “Old Ironsides” is a beautiful piece of history.
