B&E in Ballydehob

Much to my surprise, we all woke up pretty early despite all the traveling we had done the day before & the fact that it was Sunday – the perfect day to be lazy. By the time I reached the front deck with my tea and breakfast in hand, Gaby was already outside of our fabulous cottage building a fort upon which to balance her iPhone. I was quite entertained watching her run back and forth from the camera to the front door in order to test the automatic-timer feature on her phone.

With breakfast securely in my tummy, I decided to join in on the fun.

Then Olga joined in, too. It was all fun & games until…

The culprit at work.

That happened. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying—’A picture is worth a thousand words’—well, this one truly is. I like to refer to this as Joana’s “Oh, (Insert Choice of Expletive) moment”— the moment she realized that she had locked us out of the aforementioned fabulous cottage. Let me remind you, it was day one. Day One.

It’s okay; it’s not the end of the world we thought. We will just call Kathleen and explain our silly little mistake, right? Wrong. The only cell phone programmed with Kathleen’s phone number was inside the cottage that we were locked out of. Almost immediately our Irish luck turned around because I remembered opening the bathroom window while I was getting ready earlier that morning. It was of the rare moments I was incredibly thankful that I get hot easily. A quick walk around the cottage revealed that I had indeed left the window open. With just a little tug it made an opening large enough for someone to climb inside.

Again, we thanked our Irish luck because Gaby was just tall enough to climb onto the window sill; and slim enough to climb through.

My apologies for the blurry pic– I was apparently too excited about Gaby’s B&E that I forgot to check my settings.

Success! I can’t tell you how happy & relieved we all were once Gaby made it inside. How many silly American girls does it take to pull off a B&E in Ireland? Four.
